Not doin' it

I am enjoying watching the Olympics. Bolt, Phelps and the rest of it. One of my favourite parts are the bodies. Beautiful, young, fit bodies. But these people are using these fit, young beautiful bodies for their events and not for doin' it.

"Two-thirds of the 100,000 condoms available to competitors at the Beijing Games are sitting unused in the Olympic village’s medical clinic—in stark contrast to previous games."

Marlon Brando sniffed pants

Pineapple Express got smoked by The Dark Knight this past weekend. The Judd Apatow produced stoner comedy got pretty mixed reviews, but most loved James Franco. I'm kind of still trying to wrap my head around the fact that David Gordon Green directed this thing.

I remember Franco's cool boy work on Freaks and Geeks and his whiny boy work in the various Spiderman movies. He also played James Dean in a mini series several years ago. You can tell because he has the Dean eyebrows down to an art in the above video. Maybe Pineapple Express will open the door for some more comedy roles, because he is pretty darn amusing, in an energetic dumb but pretty kind of way.

Things I like, Things I hate...

Foutaises, 1989

Jean-Pierre Jeunet

His most famous work, of course, is Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain ( I just used the longer French title. I'm fancy like that). But he also made one of my favourite war movies, Un long dimanche de fiançailles , which I thought illustrated nicely the various ways war is a motherfucker. It's meaner than Amelie. Plus it has Jodie Foster, speaking French. One of my friends found it too long, but I told her to note the title. It's supposed to be.

This little film stars Dominque Pinon, he of the great clown face.
